The Druid Stones, just outside Bishop have some great bouldering in a spectacular position with expansive views across Bishop and the Owens Valley. Don't miss this amazing area.

Lisa Rands made the first female ascent of The Mandala early in January 2008. I remember watching Dave Graham make the second ascent in October 2000, and saw Tony Lamiche show up in 2002 to establish the sit-start to the line. Here are some of the pics I took:

The Checkerboard Area is home to one of the finest pieces of rock on the planet, the Checkerboard Wall. The amazing polished patina here provides the incredible boulder problem The Checkerboard itself, first climbed by Chris Sharma in 2000. I was there, and was lucky enough to make the second ascent. I also added a right start, and Chris and I both also did a direct to the line. Any way you climb it, it's worth the short hike! Here are some recent photos:
